The Suffering Church

"The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church" ("Apologeticus" by Tertullian, Chapter 50)

Every day there are human rights violations that go unnoticed by the world. Sadly, most of the time the free world stands by and does nothing. Now as Catholics, we must help out our suffering brothers and sisters of all beliefs (i.e., Catholics and non-Catholics), because every human person is mystically united to Christ. This means when we help those who are suffering from persecution, we help Christ, and if we allow a persecution to continue, we persecute Jesus (Matthew 25:31-46).

What are some of the sufferings our brothers and sisters are experiencing?

Here are some examples

So what are some things we can do to help out our suffering brothers and sisters?

Here are some examples:

You see, when we help out our suffering brothers and sisters, we not only help out the persecuted, we become closer to Jesus, because we are giving of ourselves to help out another person.

So how do we get started in helping out our suffering brothers and sisters? The first step of becoming active in the cause of helping out our suffering brothers and sisters, is to become educated in the field.  In this way, we develop the skills to choose the best tools to help out the persecuted. To assist in this education process, I have prepared a collection of important resources about our suffering brothers and sisters.  It is my hope that the information I have collected will not only motivate Catholics across the globe to help out their suffering brothers and sisters of all beliefs, but will also inspire them to enter into dialogue (partnership) with non-Catholics who share in the desire of the Catholic Church in giving aid to the persecuted. It is my wish that this partnership with non-Catholics will also help non-Catholics to recognize the richness of the Catholic faith, and desire conversion to Catholicism. So let us all work together to achieve world peace, by ending persecutions!

Finally, I would like to demonstrate how praying for the continued support of the clergy is connected to helping out our persecuted brothers and sisters. You see, many of the people who are persecuted, are members of the clergy. Sadly, the clergy are being persecuted for feeding Christ's lambs (John 21:15-17). Satan knows that when the clergy feeds the Church, it becomes spiritually powerful, creating a global Culture of Life, so he inspires people to weaken the influence of the Church by attacking the clergy. This makes praying for the continued support of the clergy, particularly those who are persecuted; a necessity, so that the clergy may have the fortitude to feed the Church.

(Bl. Miguel Pro, through your intercession, please ask Jesus to relieve the suffering of the persecuted. Amen.)
